Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #21

It is Friday! That means it is time for the Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge at Paper Craft Planet: http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/cleardollarstampsllcweekendcolorchallenge/forum. I am your hostess. Yay. So I got to choose the fun, summery and bright color combo. Check it out. Not a member of PCP? Don't worry, it is easy, just join then go to this link above and join the group then come back and play. EASY.

So for my card, I wanted to try a new way of using this set LILY OF THE VALLEY (MAY'S FLOWER OF THE MONTH) by Clear Dollar Stamps LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront This idea popped into my head last week when I was staring at this set. I thought, hey I can mask that off and just use that tall middle stem of the flower and have it in a vase. Then I remembered this card I saw in the gallery by CheeseheadInCA :http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1197319. This card was my inspiration.

This card is pretty much explanatory. It is a standard A2 card. The three panels are black (3 1/2 x 1 1/2) White (3 3/8 x 1 3/8). That leaves a 3/8" margin. For the vases, I cut my paper to the width 1 5/8 (1/8" shorter than my punch size). Then I punched the oval out, using the punch upside down so I could see that I was even on both sides. The result is that the tips of the oval are flat (evenly flat because I cut the width first with a paper trimmer). You can punch first and use scissors to cut a skinny tip off from both ends but it will not be perfectly straight if you don't mind that. I stamped my versamark ink pad on top of each oval, covered with clear embossing powder and used heat tool to make look shiny.

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #48

Got ooey gooey treats and want to bring them to the bakery tea party? Then follow me to Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Teaparty: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards

Our theme was ooey gooey bakery treats. So this set instantly came into my mind BIGGEST WISHES from Clear Dollar Stamps LLC: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards. I cut the candle off the top because of the firecodes at the wedding. Oh yeah, did I tell you, this is a wedding card. That is why I used glitter, dimensional glaze and my special silver flowers. I made my card look like a gourmet bakery window of wedding cakes. At least that was what I was going for. My watercoloring definitely needs work. I'm learning as I go.

Memorial Day 2009

I just wanted to express my gratitude to all the men and women that serve and had served our country. Because of you I know freedom. Even as I type I am thinking my words cannot express the magnitude of what you do for all of us. THANK YOU.

This handsome young man is my son. He is a Marine. He graduated from boot camp last July. I want to take this day to let him know, I am proud of him. I cannot understand fully the committment and passion he has to serve his country. He is willing to lay down his life for his country. This amazes me.

When I went to his graduation from Basic Training at MCRD San Diego last October, I was blown away by the reverence on that base. And then seeing the 667 MEN (men that went in as boys and are now MEN) acting all in unison, was just so profound and overwhelming. It was such a memorable experience.

Kyler, I love you. I am here to support you and love you NO MATTER WHAT. I am proud of your ambition to follow what you feel is right at this time in your life. You have chosen a hard way and are fulfilling it with dignity and grace. I am in awe. As you read this please feel my embrace to give you a mother's hug as tears stream down my face (they are as I am typing, sniffle).

I hope you always remember that 5am morning at MCRD, the day before you graduated from Basic. Standing in the dark with your platoon in formation. And suddenly hearing a voice you recognize, yell "KYLER YOUR MOM LOVES YOU". That is me and exemplifies my love and support that will always be here for you.

Kyler James Christian Lara, YOU AMAZE ME.

Love,
Mom

I combined this challenge with the Limited Supplies Challenge #221 at Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438442

This challenge was to use circle(s) with your stamps etc and only one stamp set. Flowers count as a circle. So I decided to use these layered large flowers as my focal point and put my sentiment in a circle in the center and use piercing dots.

My sentiment is WORDS OF GRATITUDE from Clear Dollar Stamps: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront. This is a nice word set that can be used from quotes to card front and inside sentiments. I having fun masking the words and using them in different ways.

Ways To Use It Challenge #219

Today's Ways To Use It Challenge at Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438318 was called Stamp It Again. We were to stamp an image mulitiple times on our card.

I chose to ink once and stamp three times with my apple, stem and leaves. This cutie is from FRUITY FUN from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

You can see I did have a little trouble lining things up but I decided after multiple times that it was charming. It did not photograph as well as it looks in IRL unfortunately. For the shape of the card I used my coluzzle cutting system. First I folded an A2 card in half with fold at the top. I lined up the circle template so it overlapped the fold by a little. I used the third circle from the largest. Then I cut a smidge off the bottom so it would rest flat on the taple. I cut a slit inside the fold in the center 3/8 long for the mini popsicle stick and adhered to the FRONT inside. I sponged the popsicle stick first with distress ink.

Thank you for visiting me.

DETAILS:
STAMPS: Fruity Fun (Clear Dollar Stamps LLC)
PAPER: Neenah Solar White Cardstock
INK: Stampin Up Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Green Galore Basic Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain
ACCESSORIES: Sponge, Coluzzle, Mini Popsicle Sticks (Michaels), Gingham Ribbon (Joanns), Xacto Knife

Wednesday's Sketch Challenge #229

I am just now getting to posting this even though its Thursday now. This is for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438132

I knew instantly I wanted to use the beautiful set Lily Of The Valley from Clear Dollar Stamps LLC:http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront So, I started by stamping this Lily and practicing. I automatically went to the oranges. I worked the rest of the card around the Vibrant orange Lilies. I love the blues with the rich orange. Isn't that metal corner awesome (also from CDS).
Thank you for visiting.

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #47

Like laughter, food flinging, pillow fights, fluttering butterflies, yummy treats.........you get the idea well all this happens and more at Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Tea Party: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards

Today, we are bird watching. My card as you can see has no birds (that you can see) so get your binoculars, pull up a chair, have some tea and I'll share my cake while we wait for the funky tropical birds that belong to these bright and colorful birdhouses. This is where my brain took me, scarey huh?!

The birdhouses are real simple. Punch (2) 1 1/4" squares. One is the bottom, the other cut in half diagonally for the roof. Then cut a 1/8 strip just longer than the width of the birdhouse for the base. I dragged the edges across a black ink pad. Then I punched a 3/8" circle and set a 3/8 eyelet. Voila. Simple simple. I have two new neighbors that this will work great for, just need to make one more and take over with cookies. Thank you for Visiting.

DETAILS:
STAMPS: NONE sentiment computer generated using Font Bradley Hand ITC
PAPER:Basic Gray Urban Prairie Collection
INK: Stampin Up Basic Black, Printer
ACCESSORIES: Eyelet Setter (Eyelets Etc.), Round eyelets (Stamp Doctor), Heart eyelet (Eyelets Etc.), SU 1 1/4" square punch, Ribbon (from Clear Dollar Stamps)

Clean And Simple Challenge #15

Today's Clean And Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=437773 is to use black, white and one Stampin Up Bold Brights color (or like).

I chose Real Red for my one Bold Brights color. Because I wanted to make a watermelon card using FRUITY FUN by Clear Dollar Stamps LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront. I keep playing with this set because there are so many possibilities and I love watermelons.

I cut my circle using my coluzzle. Then I put it through my Cuddlebug to emboss (before folding). I embossed 1" from the fold so I could fold the card without flattening the embossing. This will also keep the fold firm. (I've noticed that when I fold my card first then unfold it to put through the CB it weakens the fold and the card flops flat).

I stamped through the whole so I could see what I was doing. I used masking tape to mask off the words only leaving the ones I wanted at a time. I finished with this ribbon I found at the stamp festival yesterday. When I cut the ends, it did not cut even and looked terrible so I purposely frayed it and that covered it up. Love that. Thank you for visiting.

DETAILS:

STAMP SETS USED:Fruity Fun

PAPERS:West Coast White Cardstock

INK:Stampin Up Real Red, Basic Black

Featured Stamper #119

Sweet Joan Ervin is the Featured Stamper today at Splitcoaststampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=437613. Yay Joan. I am so happy. Joan was one of the first people to befriend me on SCS and answer my questions. And now I am on the Clear Dollar Stamps Design Team with her. Whoo-hoo. Your gallery is so inspirational Joan.

This is the card I chose of Joan's to case:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1239021?cat=500&ppuser=28771

I chose to make my card a Masculine Birthday card with the colors. I used the BIGGEST WISHES set from Clear Dollar Stamps:http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront.

Learn how to make your own FRILLY SCALLOP EDGE from Jan: http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.com/stamps_paper_scissors/2009/03/a-tisket-a-tasket.html
The sentiment by the cake I stamped in Basic Gray on paper off to the side then stamped on my card for a light look. It does not show up that great in the photo. Also was does not show up well is the black mat on my happy birthday tag is cut from the ouside edge to the center all the way around. I then pulled up everyother tap and it looks like a bottle cap. Instead of trying to cut around the flame I punched out a 3/4" circle from the image on another piece of a paper, colored it and adhered onto the card with dimensionals. All these details look better IRL. Thank you for visiting.

PS I told you I would be using my finds from the stamp festival yesterday on future creations. These eyelets, the circles with the silver brads in the middle are one of my finds.

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #19

The Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge starts on Friday when posted and ends Sunday at specified time included in post:http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/cleardollarstampsllcweekendcolorchallenge/forum/topics/clear-dollar-stamps-llc-1.
This weekend's colors are: Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and white (neutral). I used DP by Minds Eye and sponged with Stampin Up's Only Orange.

This is a skinny card 3 1/4 x 5 3/4. I cut a 1 1/2 wide strip from green DP then ran it through the paper crimper and cut to fit. I used the embossed resist technique for the oranges at the bottom. This really cute brad by Eyelet Outlet from Clear Dollar Stamps comes in an assorted pack or fruit slices, it just finishes off the card.

I used Fruity Fun images from Clear Dollar Stamps: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront. There is so much you can do with this set and I haven't even scratched the surface.

I want to include a little shout out to YLM (a fellow SCSer) whom I met today at the Heirloom stamps and Paper Crafts Festival in Puyallup, WA. Hi. I had a good time. Too good by the money I spent. I will share my finds in upcoming creations. Enjoy your weekend. Thank you for visiting.

Limited Supplies Challenge #220

Man, its been over a week now and I'm still battling this stomach bug thing. I still managed to make a card, funny how I find the energy for THAT. Hee hee.

Today's Limited Supply challenge at Splitcoaststampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=437328. Is to use only beachy stamps, only one sentiment and one embellishment. And limit layers.

I met all these requirements but I did not use a sentiment. I thought Coolio (That's what I named him) was cool enough to stand alone. How can you get your hands on this cool cat? He is FREE. Yes, I did say FREE. Cool huh? Just go to Hambo Stamps: http://hambostamps.com/ and download this free digistamp. I saved him, copied him and pasted him in Microsoft Word and resized him by clicking on him and pulling the corners the direction I wanted. I know once you try him and see how easy he is to use and fun to color you'll go back for more. I have my eye on that cupcake one. Thank you for visiting.

DETAILS:
STAMPS USED: Free Digistamp from Hambo Stamps
PAPER: Mediterranean, Kraft (The Paper Company), West Coast CS
INK: Bic Mark-it Markers, Printer ink, SU Pacific Point, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain
ACCESSORIES: Paper Piercer, Tim Holtz Piercing ruler, Dimensional glaze, Dimensional tape, Dew drops clear daisy(Robin's Nest from Clear Dollar Stamps), Coluzzle, Sponge

Words of Gratitude MAY Release

I wanted to do something different with this set WORDS OF GRATITUDE from Clear Dollar Stamps LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

So I masked off the words with masking tape and stamped one word at a time to the 3/4" circle centers. I love how these glass circles look.

I used the Stampin Up Scallop punch for the flowers. Cutting with scissors from the outter edge to the center (after adhering the center circle). Then I sponged each petal pulling up its neighbors as I went, this gives the flower its round form. The inspiration for these cute flowers came from the last Stampin Workshop I attended. Thanks Judy!

I sanded all edges with a nail file, then sponged and stitched. May you be inspired to make your own. Thanks for visiting. Come again.

To see more ideas to do with this set go to this link:http://gallery.cleardollarstamps.com/main.php?g2_itemId=2689

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #46

Yes, I am posting this a day late. I finished my card late last night and was not feeling well at the time so am posting now.

Ever been to one one of mothermark's Teapot Tuesday's tea parties? You can get the deets and view her amazing creations here: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards.

This time the inspiration was a solid white teapot. So I decided to make a monochramatic card using different shades of white. This new release set WORDS OF GRATITUDE is perfect for this card and is from Clear Dollar Stamps LLC:http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

I cased a card from Paper Crafts Magazine March/April 2009 pg46. Thank you for visiting. Enjoy your day.

Color Combination #218

Good day! I am still under the weather from a stomach bug (I swear my wonderful sharing son gave me) and of course him and Mario were over it the first day. Five days later, I'm still feeling its effects. But it hasn't kept me from making cards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hee hee.

Today's Color Combination Challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to use the colors: Summer Sun, Only Orange and Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436814 . First of all I was excited I even had these colors, in ink only but still I HAVE THEM! First what came to my mind was Lemons, Limes and Oranges. And Oh I have the perfect stamp for that, a new release FRUITY FUN from Clear Dollar Stamps LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront.

So, I stamped and heat embossed all my lemons, limes and oranges. They would not stand out unless I did that because two of my inks are Craft. My sketch is from an add for Paper Crafts Card Creations Quick & Easy Volume 2 in Paper Crafts Magazine March/April 2009 pg 79. Lots of great ideas in there CHECK IT OUT!

CAS Challenge #14

I just love the fresh look of Clean And Simple cards. I made this for today's CAS challenge at splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436651

There is also a CAS DT (Design Team) call which you will find on the above link. Check it out. I submitted my three cards for the call along with other very talented ladies. We will see what happens.......

The challenge is to use the Rock n Roll technique (also a link to the tutorial provided in the above link). So, I decided to ink up this cute deer, I immediately thought of a green grassy hill with flowers for him to run, eat and be happy. This card did not materialize without its problems, uh I mean challenges.

First I stamped the (sweet little) deer directly onto the card and he only partially came out. ARGH!!! (should have heard the names I called him after that, no JK hee hee hee). So I cut out my sample (that I tried first before making the card) and popped him up on top of the OOPS. I had to emboss him because he just was not coming out strong enough for me. Heat embossing made him pop.

Then the sentiment (cute little thing) after 20 or 30 or 50 or 100 tries (no just about 30) just would not stamp nice and clean. (Should have heard the name I called it after that! JK again) So I decided to go to my trusty computer and just print one out. Whew. That worked.

Lemonade from lemons! Hope you find inspiration here.
