Light It Up Blue Blog Hop

I am participating in the
Light It Up for Autism Awareness Blog Hop
The purpose of this blog hop
is to draw awareness to autism.  We probably all have someone in our life that has autism.  There are so many fantastic sponsors that have shown their support for Autism Awareness and you can see the complete list HERE.

If you would like a chance to win a prize
from one of these fabulous companies leave a comment on this blog, and any of the other blogs participating in today's hop! Winners will be chosen at random and will be announced on Monday April 6. So hop away, and you'll be seeing lots of BLUE today!

Here is the card I created for this Hop
Did you know SugarPea Designs is one of the sponsors for today's hop?
I just love these pencils and decided to make a border of them using Teacher's Pet. I used 11 different blue Copic markers and colored using the one pen shading technique.  I put on my color, let it dry then went back and added my shadow, repeating til I got the look I wanted. Then I went in with some grays for further shadows.  Then I used the blender pen and white gel pen for highlights.
Can you see my piece of vellum?
I wasn't sure what I wanted to use for my sentiment panel, the black or vellum. I found I liked them layered and used them both!  I embossed with the white embossing powder.  I only put tape on the end part of my black sentiment strip so the end sticks up a little.

SPDSS20 - You Fill My Day With Color

Ready for a new SugarSketch?
Come play with us on the SugaPea Designs' Blog
I flipped the sketch to the left but kept the card horizontal.
I masked and sponged my circle.  I used photo corners and masked off my sentiment and stamped it for the flags.  Then cut out and colored my bear (he is so cute) and popped him up on my circle.

I was inspired by Judith Gowdy's remarkable card HERE

SPD February Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop

It’s time again for our monthly, Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop !  Now that you have our January 2015 Release in your hot little hands, our Pod Squad of designers have geared up to inspire you with even MORE creative possiblites featuring the newest SugarPea Designs stamps & dies.

 I made pencil Valentines
using the new Classroom Cupids and an older set Teacher's Pet

You can use whatever pencils you like, I used what I had on hand
I combined two sentiments, one from each set.  I aligned them up on the table face down them pressed my acrylic block and heat embossed on my panels and made them into flags and wrapped them around my pencils. Easy.
Here I wrapped washi tape around my pencil then put a flag on it.

First, I just put a small piece around the pencil at the top to start with.
Then using the roll, I started wrapping the washi around my pencil at an angle.
Voila. Then I sharpened for a nice looking end.
To make my flag, I started with a piece of paper 1 1/4 x 6.
I made a pencil mark 1/2 in from the end and heat embossed my sentiment to line up along that line.
I cut a line in the middle on the end up to the line.
Then, I cut a line from one corner to meet with the top of my cut at the line.
I repeated on the other side and erased my pencil line.
To adhere, I used a 2" long piece of score tape.
I just wrapped it around my pencil and used my boned folder to press on up to the pencil.
